How to Make Mud Slime—Try This Recipe for Yourself!

by Stacy Tornio

Hello. My name is Annabelle, and my mom runs Hashtag Outside. She asked me to create a new slime recipe for the website, and I invented a mud slime recipe.

I love slime. I make it all the time. (One time, my mom says the pipes got clogged, and she had to call a  plumber. She thinks it was because of the slime, but seriously, no one really proved that for sure.) The best part about making slime is just experimenting and finding the right recipe.

Sometimes I drive my parents crazy because I’m always asking them to buy me more glue so I can make more slime. I really love inventing new recipes. Since little kids like to play in the dirt and mud, I thought it would be fun to create a mud slime recipe. It’s really easy to make. I’m including the recipe below. My best trick, which you’ll see in the video, is to mix your slime a little bit at a time. This will really help you get the right texture.

Mud Slime Recipe

  • 1 cup of dirt
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup glue
  • 1 cup liquid starch

Step 1

Pour your dirt in a bowl. Be sure to remove any big chunks or rocks!

Step 2

Add your water, a little at a time. Mix with a spoon.

Step 3

Add your glue a little bit at a time. Keep mixing!

Step 4

The final step is to add your liquid starch. You want to do this a little at a time. You will slowly build up your mixture until it looks and feels like slime.

Step 5

Once you have your slime, store it in a plastic container! Good luck! Here’s the video so you can see how I did mine!
