Stacy Tornio is the writer behind Hashtag Outside. She is the author of 15+ books on topics like gardening, nature, and getting kids outside. One of her recent books, 101 Outdoor Adventures to Have Before You Grow Up, is co-authored with her teenage son, Jack. It was a 2019 winner of the National Outdoor Book Awards.
Stacy has a background in journalism. Out of college, she worked in public radio, daily newspapers, and then magazines. For 10 years, she worked on the national magazine, Birds & Blooms, where she was proud to be editor for several years. After leaving the magazine, Stacy went to the digital media world to work for WeAreTeachers.com where she worked on educational materials and produced more than 100 videos, many with millions of views. Today, Stacy is the Director of Content for Let Grow, a national nonprofit that believes childhood independence is a critical part of growing up.
Stacy believes outside is a great form of therapy, and she tries to get out for sunshine as much as possible. She lives in Milwaukee with her two kids, Jack and Anna, and two dogs, Daisy Mae and Boomer.
